about k&k learn french

Colourful expressions are what makes a language come alive, and since our early days in France, we've been hearing these expressions all around us, translating them badly into English, then laughing about them hysterically. Surprisingly, we found that this strategy was actually helping us to remember stuff!

The k&k learn french podcast is really just an extension of what we're doing every day anyway - learning and discovering and fluffing up all over the place. We want to share our enthusiasm for our favourite expressions, learn new ones, and most importantly, help people not make the same mistakes we did.

In each show (published once a week), we pick out one expression/phrase/idiom/word that we've come across it in our travels, and "massacre" it in a way only we know how. We get our friend Frog with a Blog (that is, a Real French Person) to pronounce it correctly for us, we then translate it, give you the meaning, put it into context, give English and French equivalents, and most importantly, look at situations where it should and shouldn't be used.

Rather than over-saturating your brain, we just give you one expression per podcast in the hopes that you'll be able to retain it and recognise it if you hear it, and maybe even use it yourself.

This podcast different from the rest because we're giving you everyday French expressions as they're used by the French today, things you would hear on the street and can use in conversation. You'll get different things out of this podcast than what you can learn in a classroom or from a book, which makes it an ideal companion guide to a traditional learning experience.

So what made us decide to do this podcast?
Because we're in France.
And we need to learn French.
Makes sense, really.
